Hmmm, I think the question should be, are you building a T Ford or the T Ford from Peaky Blinders? From what I can see the car in the series had a black firewall and black tires... or muddy anyway

I like the white tyres too, they're not often seen imo.

How did I miss this? A great choice Robbo and your moving along nicely too.
Carbon black was added to tyres in he early 1900's which made the rubber harder and more resilient. I used to visit a carbon black factory, if you went onto the shop floor you came out covered in fine black dust!

White is definitely novel. You do see many like that.

Got some colour on but not happy with the X-1, very dull, just in talks with a car builder at my club to see what the best way forward will be, polish or varnish, or try another gloss black The roof and seat are in satin black and they are shinier than the body

I've just tried a clear lacquer on the underside that wont be seen and it looks like it might have worked, I'll see better when it dries

Good idea to try it on the underside first, Ian.

As I remember, and took the idea from Boots. I sprayed, sanded, sprayed, sanded and sprayed again before using Mr Hobby gloss rattle can. I think Boots does it six times. This is the finish I got after some Tamiya polishing cream.

Right really glad I done that as it looks much better. I went over it very lightly with an ultrafine sanding sponge before I put the second coat on I'll get another x-1 tomorrow and give it a third coat While I was out there I sanded the tyres down for a test fit and got a second enamel brass on the rad
