I picked up a 1/72 Spitfire Mk22 last night at the club, your fault
I don't mind taking the blame for that, I've done worse ...

What does the PR stand for before the roman numerals This version was the last of the photo reconnaissance Spitfire to see service with the RAF. 79 aircraft ordered, delivered on 27th Nov 1944 and the last one 18th May 1945.

What does the PR stand for before the roman numerals Photographic reconnaissance.....it`s unarmed Yup. Despite entering service at the end of 1944, Airfix has 2 versions here : - PS888 of 81 Squadron, RAF based in Malaysia April 1954 - 31040 of 1 Division Flottilj 11, Flygvapnet based at Nykoping July 1955
I don't know much about these Recon versions, so there might be other countries using them after the War.

Just found out a lot of info :
Funny, that Airfix has the version from the last flight:
"The last operational sortie by an RAF Spitfire was made by PR.19 PS888 of No 81 Squadron in Malaya on 1 April 1954, seeking Communist guerrillas in jungle in the Johore area. "

Today with F1 and Football not much done,so it's a small update I also painted the undercarriage legs, the clear parts ( lenses for the Recon ) had a light coat of Clear Blue too.
I still have to touch up the seat a little. There are no decals provided by Airfix for seatbelts or any side panels or control panel. I will add the Wings tomorrow hopefully.

Try using very thinly cut masking tape strips for the seat harness I reckon in this scale that would be sufficient, specially after a coat of buff and a little black or brass colour for the buckles

Thanks for the tip !

I think the seat would look fine as, Paul described in this scale, John.

Very cool Spitfire! I built this one when it came out, goes together very nicely. There were comments about the panel lines but they look okay under paint. Tamiya tape and a dark wash will be all you need for this one the cockpit is so small and dark when the kit is finished you won't see anything of the buckles you'll spend an hour on

And the equivalent for the Humbrol Paint that they recommend it's not even XF50...

Paint colours can be a pain in the bum sometimes.

Oh WTF, I knew Tamiya have been changing paint recipes for while now, I have mentioned that often enough. But that is ridiculous . I would go for the darker colour, if it looks wrong I would then start mixing the two together, until the required shade is found.

A bit late to see this one but one I found useful was to sandwich a piece of tinfoil between two bits of masking tape to give it a small amount of rigidity.

The horror this XF50. I'd go for the darker shade too. Maybe it's an idea to blend the two?
