Boots mentioned in his L4500A thread, Afrika Braun  . He knows damn well that I love DAK vehicles, so I blame him for me starting this one  . Here's Tamiya's Tiger 1, Deutsches Afrika Korp  . Naturally I have some add-on goodies for this; Friul tracks, RB model barrels, Panzer Art stowage box and a bit of etch  . When the time comes for the side skirts, I'll shall scratch them from foil . Anyway, here's the pics. And yes, we have cut and glued plastic, and now it is starting to look like a Tiger .     Oh yes before anyone asks. No, I am not building the Tiger 131. There is way too much info out there for me attempt that. I would probably miss something or get a piece wrong and everyone would laugh at me for it  |

I built this kit long time ago. It has it's issues, but it's fun to build, like most Tamiya kits. Great to see Mr. B at it ^^ Now, I'm going to be a bit naggy. But I hope to straighten this for once and for all. Hope you won't mind me using capital letters: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "DEUTCHES AFRIKA KORPS" Tiger  Somehow this is something which keeps being repeated over and over again - and the manufacturers keep putting this on the boxes from time to time. But the Tiger Abteilungen which were active in Tunisia and some other parts of Northern Afrika (501 and 504) were never part of the DAK. They fought alongside it but never were a formal part of it ^^. So DAK Tigers don't exist, "Afrika Tigers" would be ok. It's a bit like many of us calling Tiger II's "King Tiger" I suppose Anywhoo, I'm not too active modelling wise lately, but I will try to tag along, because a Tiggy with some goodies is too good to pass on me. Good to see this one chap. ^^ edit: I'll take those Duvels, thank you |

Cheers muchly for your attention chaps . Wouts, it's good to see you back, even if we have to summon you up like some evil demon . Thank you muchly for that info, I didn't know that the Abt.501 wasn't part of the Afrika Korps. As Wouts mentioned the kit has some issues, the main thing that struck me is the missing welds all around the hull and turret. These I have addressed today, also I added the Tamiya engine deck etch .    The welds still need cleaning up, but I'm glad I have added them . |
