Yep, that's right, i'll attempt to build this one. I really like the camo, but i haven't got the slightest clue how the ferk i'm gonna paint this one... We'll see. PS: (1) Any advice on how to paint the camo or ref pics are most welcome! (2) This isn't going to be a speed build, that's for sure!

Oooooh now this is gonna be cool . I know that Ian H did this camo scheme over on the big A about 5 years ago , I am sure he can help with the painting side . I haven't got much on this subject John, but what I do have I'll get to you .

Nice, a Berlin brigade chiefy, can't get better than that. The kit's really easy to build John with no real issues. Afraid I know sod all about that particular camo scheme but I do know that the colours called out in the instructions are not a good match.

Thats a tricky spray job to put it mildly.....i think the masking /spraying is gonna be ya time consumer for sure John, lots of straight lines and paint chainging involved in this one

The tricky bit will be keeping the demarcation lines straight when going over the contours. The running gear is black as are the hull sides behind the bazooka plates and wheels. I'd personally go for the grey first and cover the whole upper tank with it, then chose between white and green .

(Thanks again to Paul for great reference help on that conversion, BTW). I think I got my paint references out of that Berlin Brigade book. Regards, Ian

Ok....for mine I used the following.
1) White--Model Master White with a few drops of Vallejo German White added.
2) Blue--Model Master Intermediate Blue FS 35164 lightened with a few drops of white.
3) Brown----I saw variations on this in the photos. On fresher paint jobs I found Model Master U.S. Army Helo Drab to be very close. However, on machines where the paint faded it takes on a much browner hue and Luftwaffe RLM 81 looked close (maybe darkened just a bit with some Drab).
Hope this helps,
Ian

Ok the building has started, the running gear is built and painted. Too much cleaning and too many parts for every outward wheel. Not something diffuicult to do, just no real point in the whole procedure. Is it black enough for you Mr Evilfella?

Nice start to this John, and glad you're doing my old LAD attachment(14/20th Kings Hussars) May I suggest that when you come to paint it,spray the colour with least patch coverage, mask up,then the next, mask up.then the third.Top of the hull was the standard green anyway.job done!

Ok this one has moved on. The building part is THANK GOD, finally over!!!! I had lots of issues with this kit. The attchment points were very thick, even on the very small parts and almost behind every attachment point there was an air bubble!!!!! Lots of putty was used..... At some point i actually got really angry. The ''best part'' was the turret. I think they made a lower part for the MK 5 and then they threw in the box an upper part for the different Mks without even testing them. There is a huge gap going all around these two parts and the only way to do it is to glue it on the LH side, were there is another part there, that must be glued and then use putty on the other side with some white stuff to hold it in place. If you dont do that there is no way to glue the left side armor..... After that you have to clamp the meeting points on the RH side really tight, because they simply dont match! Not what i was expecting from this kit.... Be sure not to follow the instructions and place anything on or around the turret before you finish glueing the turret!
Anyway everything is in place now, except for my nerves. Next step, is to get it primed.

Despite the problems, you beat the kit into submission. The build looks great! Looking forward to more.

Now that I wouldn't have expected . Looks fine now though John , there is one little thing missing . There should be a welded on nut on the T-piece of the rear deck, this is where the eyebolt is fitted to lift the T-piece off the engine compartment.
