I thought long and hard before I start this cos my track records not been very good of late with blogs, but hopefully I can keep this one going! I need a break from painting figures for now, hobby and job it becomes a little wearisome, so to keep things fresh and all that! And if I need a quick fix inbetween this one I will attack some more 1/72! Here's the ingredients! Took a while to track down this particular MK IV, comes with a set of indie links as well as the rubber band affair! So without further ado! The first page makes you decide on options straight off the bat! early or late! the late has applique armour, but discussions with Chris Meddings who seems to have become the Churchill font of knowledge! informed me that most AVRE were reconditioned early models, so with that info in hand,.... early it is. So holes drilled to accept the early components and the first run of sprung suspension in place. And with that I'm off to stick plastic together!

Great choice! The kit is really fun to build so I hope you enjoy it. Looking forward to it.

Gentlemen........ Welcome! I've sat quietly this afternoon cracking through the sponsons, these if you've not built a AFV Club Churchill before are quite complex and I've heard lots of folk struggle. But with a little patience, and taking your time they go together nicely! Here we are with all the suspension and wheels now in place. Still fully workable too! Then the Drive and idler sprockets are added along with all of the fittings for the AVRE bulldozer, this is quite busy as those decisions come into play, with various options even down to the bolts that hold it all together on the real thing!, notice my white plugs of shame to fill option holes that I drilled out previously Next up will be joining the two together, once the glacis is in place I can start introducing the bridge fittings and maybe the bridge itself and then start calculating some form of counterweight for inside the tank twelve steps ahead of my physical self!

Well done Vlad . Those suspension parts can be tricky, but you have sussed the buggers out . At a guess you're going to need about 200 gramms of ballast in the engine room

Vlad, the suspension looks great! Although complex, I thought AFV Club did a great job of engineering that. I thought it went together really well, despite all the parts. Looking forward to more!

Ian

Thanks for the kind words chaps, the suspension is fiddly but with a little care it builds fine! Its just the physics of those springs you have to be careful of I built the MK III gun tank a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed it! dont want too many in the collection though! big buggers!

So a small update, I've not had too much time for personal projects this week, huge amount of commission work and not so huge time! But anyhoo! I fixed the floor and front and rear plates in place, then started adding the rear details. The hull top also received some love, but has been left separate until the counter weight has been dealt with. Looks like I may get some more bench time tomorrow, turret time! My initial concerns about the bridge fittings on the front end were completely unfounded so I can get most of the AVRE built before I start messing with resin!

Vlad I have two AFV Club and one Tamiya Churchill in the cabinet, and yes they do take up a fair piece of show room . Nicely rollin' along there though

I’ve heard that AFV Club kit can be a bit of a pain to assemble but you look to have it under control buddy
