Hi chaps, there's many kits out there, where you need to glue the two halves of road wheels together before getting any paint in place. I have often cursed and thrown a wobbler, trying to get the inner parts of the road wheels painted decently. Well, I now have a solution to solve this problem. What you need is solder or o-rings in different cord sizes. For this demo I'm using the M26 road wheels from a Dragon (DML) kit. Take the glued and with vehicle colour, pre-painted wheel and measure the inner width, and possibly the depth too. If you wish, you can also measure the diameter of the meatl disc, multiply this with Pi and you'll have the length you need for the solder cuts. Cut your solder or o-rings to the required length, and wrap them tightly around the wheel. As you can see here, I left 4mm of the total length off, this is simply to get the solder off easier. This part will not be seen later anyway, that the bottom where the guide horn goes . Spray with whatever colour takes your fancy, but black or Nato black is best . Then, when the paint has dried remove the solder and you'll have a nice surprise . I hope this of use for some of you chaps . Cheers

Nice little idea especially if you’re doing a clean build. Strangely enough I actually find painting the wheels by hand rather relaxing and that’s probably helped by my slap a lot of mud on approach. That means they don’t have to be perfect. Saying that, in the back of my mind I wish that more vendors would go that extra step and add a mask on the PE sheet.

Cheers Jase. The only problem with the manufacturers adding a PE mask, would be the cost. Even though these can be produced cheap, they'd slap an extra tenner on the kit just because they can.

Yeh there’s always an associated cost and I can’t imagine anyone would make their buy/not buy decision on whether it has a PE mask. I put it more in the category of that rather intangible what I expect from a vendor.

That is genius. One of the worst jobs in armour modelling. I'll definitely be using that one!

That's a grand tip,Paul. Looks like it works really well. Does it make any difference what kind of Pi you multiply by? Apple, Raspberry, Peach?........

That’s a great little tip Paul B) Now, if you can find one that gives me self-assembly indy link tracks I’ll dig out my 1/35 AFVs from the stash
