That must be video 4 or 5 by him on painting figures and each time it is the best and easiest way to do it But I agree, that guy is looking very good... might give this a go as well, seeing as I can not get the hang of Tommyguns way.. Thanks for sharing!

Bert don't worry fella, I am crap at figure painting . The last figures I did, I tried to use some tips from Armorguy. That is working for me, but I'm still rubbish. I might give this a go, to see what happens

I'd be happy to cheat to get any figure looking that good!

Indeed he is talented, but don’t forget:
The end result is amazing because the figure is amazing. I wonder how much it costs?
He says it is easy but painting those lines is no easy job.

However…it is easy doing the very thin lines with Tamiya panel line accent color in black. Also adds definition to the face. Dab it on, let it run down the creases and take the excess off with a brush moistened in enamel thinner.
Ithink all he needs is a Matt varnish.

However…the result is not near as brilliant with a bog standard figure from a vehicle kit. This is from the staghound. It’s OK abut compared with the hornet head and the detailing from the Tamiya figure set.

Sorry if I have run away on this thread, Paul. But it is all in the figure.
I would like to see Night Shift, and I hope he does one day(because he is my hero), paint a bog standard model figure like we do.

Tommy, I agree with you on that, those figures I used in the IDF models are ancient, then it is very hard to get some kind of detail on them, the paratroopers in the back of the M3 were much easier. Starting with a well detailed figure makes a lot of difference, but he is still very good at it and this method is looking "easier". Mind you, it is basicly the same as you do, dark primer, then a light color from above, than adding the real color..

Cheers bwilt. It is the same as I do because all I did was copy him in the first place.

I follow Martin on you tube and tried this out on a couple of ICM figures. If you are into the whole "Zenithal lighting" thing (aka Shep Paine's stop sign shadow n light technique) it should work well with a properly thinned paint. I didn't stop when I should have and it undid everything that had actually worked up to a point😕 As with all things practice is the key. And some decent figures. On the latter it doesn't have to be resin as long as there is a decent level of sharpness to the molding as far as I can see. 🤔
