You could just use Lifecolor leaking and stains set. That’s what I use for moss and stuff.

Thanks for the top tip Tommy! I have the slimy green enamel washes to create algae but this time I've tried to create slightly thicker moss. The spongy stuff came in handy for this purpose.

I had two sets of dry ferns, lasercut paper ones which look pretty realistic once given more colour by aurbrush but I had to order three more sets to get the perfect amount of ferns as seen on my references. By next Thursday there shall be extra ferns.

Them ferns certainly do the job, are they all crumpled in the pack or did you have to do that?

Them ferns certainly do the job, are they all crumpled in the pack or did you have to do that? Ian, the lasercut paper ferns are very thin and fragile which makes them perfect for the dry, crumpled look. Once glued on I modeled them further into shape by tweezers and even air from the airbrush. I hope to move on with the extra ordered ferns soon (Wednesday) and meanwhile I worked a bit more on the concrete platform. Slowly it looks more blended in. I've experimented with seafoam as well.

Paul and Tommy, thank you kindly mates.
Next thing is to add more variation to the undergrowth. I'll go for airy young bushes with vivid greens to create depth and contrast with the brown ferns underneath. I use seafoam and sifted spongy stuff which is ideal for a 1/48 diorama. It's glued on with thinned wood glue and then coloured with different shades.
Tomorrow pics. Cheers chaps.
