Well i have to confess to being a bit of a slacker as of late but i do have good reasons....
Anyhoo.....i have got back to the table for a bit and the stalled Spitfire will resume shortly...........in the mean time i went stark ravin` mad and ended up in here!!
This is purely a practercise so i don`t expect to end up with a masterpiece but if you don`t try you`ll never learn!
My son had a couple of 1/16th figures under his bed and one day he deposited them on my bench and i assumed he didn`t want them so i stuck them in the garage for ages.... soooooo for some bizzare reason i decided to have a try, they`re not badly molded for old kits but after a little bit of TLC i got it to a reasonable standard, so here we are to date..
The main colour blocking is done and awaiting weathering (`cept the boots.....not started them yet), i also wanted to have a go at the Oakleaf design so i`m hoping it looks acceptable, i looked at loads of ref pics of the M42 jacket and Oakleaf designs and went from there really!
The base colour was a mix of Saddle Brown and Sunny skin tone.....followed by Beige Brown, Rust and Orange brown, the trousers still need work yet and so do the gloves...once the ancillery bits are done i`ll give this a gloss coat ready for the next stages.
Not sure whether to go with the Field Grey gloves and trousers or whether to go with the Oak leaf all over, if i go the whole hog i`ll just have to re-base the Saddle Brown colur.
The face was primed using Midnight Blue upwards and Beige XF 55 from above..........thats as far as i am with the face.
I will have a go at using oils for the face being as i tried acrylics for the body....this is the bit i`m dreading
Sorry....i took the pics the wrong way round on my phone
I`m not gonna blog this as such because it`s more of a learning curve.
Cheers chaps
