Yus mate......the trailer coupling , it`s sometimes known as the 5th wheel over here............that was when you only had trucks with the 2 rear and 2 front wheels...........hence 5th wheel coz it`s round, now days a lot of trucks have 2 or 4 front and sometimes 4 -6 at the rear.....kinda blows the 5th wheel option outta the window now

Don`t forget ya scarf and gloves mate......gettin` colder out there
Ok......had a good session with some more white-work, took me a little while but it was enjoyable
Made up the tool box using the front of an old box and built around it using styrene sheet.........basically the front is kit the rest is scratch , added some bits around the coupling mount and built up a pivot point for the plate, i just made some release springs using some very thin rod and 0.3mm green wire wrapped around it......this is purely for interest so`s that area don`t look too bland with just a blank plate , i`ve added a wooden board section (it has been wood-grained but don`t show in the picks).......i`ll stick some junk on this at a later stage of the build.
Then i bit the bullet and tackled that 5th wheel/coupler............it ain`t perfect and it weren`t particularly easy to do , took me 3 attempts just to get sizing and shape right .......once i got a piece of card shaped that i was happy(ish) with i then cut out 3 more by using the correct one as a template........i then just laminated them together to give a bit of depth and cleaned it up once dry.
It`ll do for me and once weathered in should look exceptable

This still needs a couple of bits doing to it to finish it orfe but it`s a big chunk done and outta the way............next up i need to scratch a spare-wheel holder which sits at the rear of the cab wall
Onwards and sideways
Cheers folks

That is really shaping up nicely, especially with the mods you made. Nicely done, indeed.

Ok chaps...........didn`t get the primer on as it`s a bit to cold and damp.......i`ll do it tomorrow
In the meantime......the last remaining bit of white-work done, the spare wheel holder was easy enough and i added some brass air-line connectors, 5th wheel had the catch pin added and a release handle. This is the chassis complete now..........the only thing left to do is paint the inside of the cab and bang it together.....then i can attach it permanently , then it`s colouring in time and i wanna add some stowage, i`ll see if i can find some value gear suitable for this.

More laterz
