Great work, did you pick a few planks out in lighter tones by any chance?

Pete, the deck was first sprayed with a uniform Tamiya Wooden deck tan + Tamiya Gloss Clear. After drying I brushed on a thin layer of pure burnt umber oil paint and after 20 minutes I wiped it off, so it only remained in the recessed lines. Once dry I continued with washes (burnt umber and burnt sienna). With a sharp tipped brush I then removed more or less of the transparent thin layer plank after plank. Different shades and colours were the result. Simple.

Thanks chappies ! I've glued everything together so now we can speak of something that looks like a toon KM Scharnhorst. Tip for future Scharnie builders : the superstructure consists of two major parts. I recommend not to glue them together, just snapfit them. It's an extremely tight fit adding them to the deck. I've drilled out the holes for the superstructure some more or else it got pushed up in the middle. This is where I'm at... I think more needs to be done to make it look better. I'll slap on another wash before finishing up this floater!!!
