chaps I need some help or advice regarding metallic colours or metallic effects, how or what would you recommend?
I don't want to use Alclad, but I would like to apply it through the AB, preferably something that is thin and doesn't build up too much thickness as some metallics tend to do.
Brass and maybe matt aluminium are quite important and then gun metal and steel.

Vlad I use Modellmaster enamels and they are very thin, I always brush paint with them. The only problem is, they're becoming extremely rare to find.
Humbrol also have some very cool enamels (Metalcote) but these are getting just as hard as MM to find.
The Vallejo stuff I haven't tried yet, but I can say it is made by Alclad.
Ain't much help I know, but maybe if look around you might find Humbrol or MM somewhere. The last Humbrol tin I found was a year ago, in Hobby Craft in Peterborough.

Never tried Mr Hobby.... and I have pretty much the entire range of Vallejo model colour, must look at their Model air range (y)

Yes I agree with you about the Metalcote, good paints and I have some myself, in fact the ONLY enamels I still own.

For airbrush use, my acrylics of choice would definitely be Mr Hobby or failing that Tamiya. Like Alclad best results will always be achieved over a black basecoat preferably Gloss but both build up very nicely with no loss of detail and thin perfectly with X-22A fella
