Guess who's back at the bench I finally managed to take some shelf queens from the shelf. First one: the U-Boot. I made a start with the seascape. Basically I cut a piece of insulation foam and sculpted the waves. After that I soaked some watercolor paper in water for about 15 minutes and glued it on top. When that was dry I brushed a layer of Humbrol Gloss Coat. When dry the watercolor paper hardens. Sadly no photos of that stage. After that I gave the ocean it's basecoat: two layers of Vallejo Dark Green SS This was followed by many many many many MANY very thin layers of greens, greys and a tad of blue green and black. They were all blended wet in wet (all Vallejo paints), the result is still a bit boring, but when I brushed on two layers of Humbrol Gloss Coat it all came alive (meanwhile I glued the sub in place and filled the gap with several layers of AK Water Gel Transparent - sometimes mixed with a bit of Olive Green and Blue Green acrylic paint). To recreate the waves I used AK Water Gel Transparent. It's white out of the bottle, but dries up clear. When that had dried I added the wakes and bow crash. Basically I pulled small strands of cotton out of cotton balls (which you can buy cheaply in bulk) and added it in place with the water gel, after that I shaped it using a flat brush and some more water gel The cotton still looks a bit too cotton-ish, but next steps will hopefully change that. And quite annoying, for some reason my photos dissapeared in this thread, don't know how that could be. Will need to change that later on Cheers
