Not as difficult as you might think; the smaller they are the less detail there is. Viewing from a sensible distance helps too.

Agreed. Sometimes the toughest thing is the tedium of painting the same thing over and over and over...ad infinitum. The details are easy to paint....such as they are.

That abouit sums it up as regards painting for wargames, turning out battalion after battalion and regiment after regiment. I'm not decrying it, I've had too much pleasure from it but not getting as much out of it as I used to. A change is as good as a rest

Most definitely. That's why I frequently change up what I'm working on as well. Learned that from painting figures for my wargames.
