I have wanted to build a scene using foam board or some time but couldn't find the same board that the builders in the books used. i tried one or two and hit on this un-named board at Hobbycraft. Messing around with a small heat gun crazed the surface in a random pattern and a few swipes with some burnt umber oil paint wiped off immediately emphasised the surface. A light grey paint did the same for the larger example. I made a wooden sign and weathered that and a drain pipe which is a little rusty . The drain pipe wall is 300 x 160 mm This inspired me to buy Emmanuel Nouallier's fantastic book which is a remarkable adventure in life-like modelling of buildings etc. Here's a few pics of my experiments and once I get some more foam board it's off to workbench to have a proper go!!! as ever thanks for looking in. bill

That is beautiful work. Very difficult to reproduce those effects but you really nailed it.
Best wishes,
