Thanks for the comments fellas B) The the fight continues, this is a strange mix of Tamiya quality panel lines with short-run fit and flash on the parts. When you’ve sorted that the actual fit isn’t too bad but it’s all very time consuming. Anyhow, here’s a pic All rough filling done, Plastic Putty needed to smooth things off yet

Steve, it is shaping up beautifully despite the flash and fit issues. Looking forward to more!

Looking great so far. You're doing so well I don't see any issues. That's a sign of a great modeler.

Your all too kind fellas Had another 2 hour bash tonight, wings now complete and on, vents and other bits’n’bobs added ready for a going over to fill the small gaps here and there. Plus Royal Navy 2” rocket pods glued up, as with the rest of the kit there’s a bit of burr removal to do here. Airfix have done well though as they’ve given us the correct rocket RN pods. The RAF used 68mm SNEB rockets but there was a risk that the powerful ship’s radars could set them off on the deck! Hence you can’t use SNEB’s on your RN model More when I can B)

Looks fantastic, Steve!!!!! I love the folded wings, too. That's an interesting factoid about the SNEB rockets. Definitely would not be good to have those flying around the Ark Royal's deck. Great progress, sir.

Ian

Sorry guys, the Phantom is ghosted. No matter how I try I can’t get the fecking resin splitters to look good. And now after a few fill and file goes around I’m losing the details and the will to continue.... It’s my fault, I should have stuck with the Airfix parts and used decals for the grills. TBH the resin didn’t look good before I started but I believed the internet BS but maybe I’ve got a bad set. Here’s an iPhone pic, I blasted a shot of gloss black on to highlight the issue, on such a prominent part of the Airframe it’s Ciao, Adios I’m done! Off to sulk for a while now

Sorry to hear that, Steve. Was looking forward to your Rhino build. Any chance of just getting another kit and go OOB with the splitters?
Regards,
Ian
