I think ya mean `old timer team` Mid-life crisis i`m afraid Pete ..........i really enjoy the hobby, can`t beat the peace and quite out in the fields .........i find local arranged dig sites thru FB (thats the ONLY thing i use FB for) and just tag along..........i have loads of fields right on my doorstep but it`s getting the permission thats the prob........farmers are hard to contact and most don`t want you on their land digging up tiny little holes and filling them back in again ...........the stupid thing is we are actually doing them a favour by removing unwanted crap in the ground that can damage livestock/tractors and equipment etc.........some of the chunks of iron are quite big and all the aluminium cans and general rubbish gts removed by us....thats gotta be a good thing for the farmer surely........lets call it field cleaning

Always fancied it myself, around here especially in the autumn there are big events in the local fields with loads of people attending. However I've got far too many hobbies at the moment!

Pete........ya can never have too many hobbies Paul.......never realised it would be strict else where. i pay 8 GBP for a yearly licence and thats it

It's not that I'd need a licence, it's basically pointless. You can go out and search for free, obviously you need permission to go over the land, but if you find anything it has to be reported. You're not allowed to take anything home. No matter what the find is worth, you end up giving it to the state.
