Guy, Boots, cheers chaps . As said this is only the first or base colour, this week I shall get some rust tones going down . Then some of the top paint job, which I still haven't decided on yet. The real tractors had Orange, Red, Greens or blues on them, so I plenty to chose from yet . ......Bugger, there's only just over 2 weeks left on this GB .

Nice base colour for further tones mate That's why I paused the Carl build cos I knew this was only three months. Sounds like a lot of time but it does creep up on you!

Cheers Joe . Chaps I have started the rusty process , these colours all being mixed from Mr.Hobby red, brown, yellow, purple. I have done two takes today, the first was a darker rusty colour and the second a lightened colour of the first. Still more to do with rusty the colours, and also I want to get some worn original paint on there too . The clock is ticking .......

Guy, Steve, Pete,Boots, Joe, Ian, many thanks chaps . This rusty paint thing is really giving me a boost here. There are so many options or directions to go it's bloody difficult chose which . Anyway, I have chosen a path and it's now committed . Today I added a load of rusty pigments to the base colour, these were added with just water and then fixed with hairspray . After that I added two coats of the original paint colour, for which I used Vallejo Light Sea Blue 71.089, lightened with Vallejo white. Over that went a lighter colour of the mix to get a fading/bleaching effect. After about 20 minutes I took a tooth pick and started chipping away at the underlaying pigments, the over laying blue came away in flaky scabby bits revealing the rusty undercoats. Also some of the pigments remained in place giving some texture which looks quite pleasing . The whole lot has now been sealed with VMS matt, but there are some areas thatI can still chip if I wish, we'll see how I feel about that later. Enough waffle, here's the situation as it now stands . The wheel hubs were a test bed and need redoing, I fecked up removing the top colour. I used water to break up the hairspray , totally wrong and stupid move, then I tried a stiff brush which was just as bad. Never mind, tomorrow I'll the pigments and HS out again and hopefully get the removal right from the start

Tim, Boots, Guy, Joe, appreciated kind fellows . Boots, yes fella . I only used hairspray on that area, which still needs to be washed away. I din't want to block the grilles off with pigs in case that idea didn't work out
