Nice progress on the M-48 and looks like you are banging that lower hull into shape.

Ian

Looks like you’re getting into shape besides the modelling ‘opportunities’ the suspension is giving you.

Thx a lot for the comments guys. Managed to get some more work done. The excess parts on the fenders were cut and using lengths of styrene i made the parts that needed to be scratched. The heater exhaust was drilled. The resin parts for the main gun lock were added. So the hull is more or less ready. Now to the turret. The gunner's sight was cut in order to glue there the resin one, since they are completely different. An area that will need a lot of work is around the gun manlet shield. The cloth that is not represented in the kit and the way it is attached. Academy did that on the upper side but left and right they did something really funny, like steps.🤔😁 These were sanded down and putty was used. I'll have to scratch these as well. Later i'll post some pics of how it is supposed to look.

So these are the pics of the gun manlet cover. I'll probably use tissue to make that with a frame inside from wire. Another thing to be changed are the sprockets. While the ones provided in the kit are correct in shape and dimensions, they lack in detaill, so a set from Slingshotmodels will be used.

Well done John. Will the tracks still fit the dents of the improved sprockets ?

Hi ppl. Regarding the question about the sprockets and the Bronco tracks. Yes, i had a quick test and they seem to fit very good, but we'll see when the time comes. Now i'm not a rivet counter, but in this case i will try to represent the bolts on the reinforcements of the fenders and the securing braces of the gun manlet cover. I have a punch and die set i never used till now. Now to what was done today... Well not much A cover for the gun manlet was made. First i made a frame from wire to go between the turret and the manlet, (which i forgot to take a pic), and then i used layers of tissue, soaked in water and wood glue. After it dried, it was cut to shape. I still have to make the securing braces for that. I know the pics aren't the best, but i think it is good enough and as time passes it shrinks and takes shape even more. Hopefully more tomorrow.

Yup, that looks grand John . By the way, that punch and die set is very good . I broke one of the punches after about 700 rivets on my Traction Engine back in 2017
