Overall I think it's a good kit but just with a few drops off but then again that's really the norm for a lot of kits. A simple example is that it wasn't until I'd finished the build that it occurred to me metal tow cable supplied isn't actually used at all.

That's an impressive looking vehicle and nice construction. Standing by for the paint phase!

So then, I had a little session to finish of all the fiddly bits so grab handles, lifting hooks and the part I wasn’t looking forward too, the dreaded PE. Before any of that I added a little bit of texture using plastic putty to some of the ‘joins’ on the turret and filled another small sink hull. The more interesting one is the attachment points for the smoke dischargers. They are basically quite prominent squares indented in the turret. All good stuff you may think except they are far, far larger than than the small attachment points on the dischargers themselves. So filler time for them. Now the PE, the good part is that they only used parts that you’d say will make a difference. So a number of small grilles for the engine department, the back of the smoke dischargers and the headlight guards. The grilles are just flat pieces so even my PE skills could cope with that. The backs of the smoke dischargers, again it would have been nice to have some marks where the bends are supposed to be made but it’s more important to get them the same than actually right. The light guards, rather fiddly and although the main bends are marked the ‘pads’ for attaching to the hull aren’t. Fortunately the edge of a metal ruler has just about the right width. Still a bit of mucking about to make sure all the angles are right but overall I’m pleased with how they look as I had this horrible feeling everything could go wrong at this point. So this is where we’re at with the only parts left to attach being the rear mudguards (they fit to both the lower and upper hull) and the wing mirrors (the chances of me not knocking them off are low so they’ll be one of the last things to do).

Just a small update, after having a bit of a ‘mare doing some detailed weathering on the S35 I put it back on the shelf before making it even worse so it was on to primer time. There some bare patches as the primer ran out. I’ll probably get a base coat of green down tomorrow once I’ve sorted out the seam on the bore excavator, or whatever it’s called. I’ve decided to go for a sand/buff, green and brown scheme from a image that Paul B posted.

I do like three three tone look and it's in that spot of being a bit of a challenge without crossing over to frustrating. It's also a hell of a lot easier on a tank than an aircraft as you can always hide those little mistakes.

Wow, fast build! Great primerage! It's a fairly easy build to be honest. The parts go together well and there's a real lack of fiddly little bits to get in place.

Now then ole chap , what the feck are you doing mixing Ardbeg and Caol Ila whiskys ? Apart from that, I'd say you have created a darned good homemade mix of Bronze Green . Well sprayed too, those patchy bits on the lower hull will blend in well later

Being a bit bored this morning I thought I’d make a start on the tracks so pigment slurry, pigments over damp pigments, dry pigments, flicked pigments, silver and a trusty old pencil. Now just to do the same thing on the outside tracks although that’s going to be quicker as much of it will be hidden.
