The refurb is done on the 1/32 scale Trumpeter F-105D and I am much happier with the finish this go around. I got all the subassemblies reinstalled as well as the ordnance and the newly repainted NMF drop tanks. I made new antenna also and got all the beacon lights and nav lights reinstalled and repainted. The plane was given a final top coat of Vallejo Matte Varnish and back to the flight line. The plane depicted is Pussy Galore II of the 354TH TFS/355TH TFW based at Takhli RTAFB in '66. Galore was flown by Colonel Vic Vizcarra (USAF, Ret.) and he completed 59 missions in Thud before he was shot down, but fortunately recovered! He then went on to bag 120 more missions in F-100s, survived the war and was promoted to Col. in 1981. Pussy Galore made it through multiple missions over Hanoi but was totaled by a fuel truck while being refurbed at a USAF base in Taiwan. The noseart didn't survive long either as 355th Wing Commander Col. Robert Scott had a coronary when he got wind of it and ordered it removed. Threw in a picture of a 100 Mission Thud patch I have as well, as I have the utmost respect for the -105 pilots that flew into the Hanoi maelstrom and also for the ground crews that made sure they got there.
