Your replies always encourage me Marcomeister. I've been painting and weathering the very simplified engine compartment. I didn't put too much effort in adding extra details as this one piece compartment is really as detailed as a hardboiled egg and not much of it will be visible... luckily. After taking the photo above a coat of Testors mat was applied. Now I'm preparing the upper hull interior (a slap of rust brown, hairspray, salt and white blablabla you know the drill) and then the hull can be glued together and further completed with a couple of rusty bits and bobs. 17 days off duty, hobbyroom here I come!!!

Perfect mate, just enough detail in that engine section to be interesting and very nicely painted & weathered too.

It was a long time ago. And to be honest I prefer painting and weathering a fully detailed engine + engine bay instead of this one piece blob 'o plastic.

The engine bay was glued in place and the upper hull was put together, now I can fill and sand where necessary and add more detail and kit parts to it. I'm progressing slowly.
Once the build is done I'll bring the hull and running stuff at the same level as the turret. Then I can begin with the finishing and weathering. Minor detail : I have Friul tracks for it and the parts look tricky bizniz, lucky for me I make only one track run as seen on my reference photos of an M47 in...a farmer's backyard.
