Great work on the burnt bits. How about soaking the sticks in water before burning them. Maybe give you a slower burn and the end result maybe more like a charcoal effect?

Thank you for that Guy . When I was playing around with the salt chipping, I also ended up some brine on the jerry cans. I didn't think anything of it first, but when painted it gave a very nice lightly blistered look to them. This would work excellently under the rust colours to add some cool texturing to the vehicle metal parts . Next time I shall definitely do that.
