Joe, Tommy cheers ole chaps . Some models just need AM metal tracks, this is one of them. The most annoying thing about them is drilling out the pin holes . The rest is a real doddle . Ian thank you mucker . Tamiya seams to be changing many a colour now. As Pete said, OD has been hit, but Nato Green, Nato black, Deck Tan and now Field grey have been altered. Maybe many more have been changed, these are the ones I have in my stash which are not the original anymore. Marco, appreciated dude . Pete, thanks mushty . Tis darned annoying about the Tamiya paints . Guy, my dear neighbour I thank you kindly sire . Today I started on my nemesis , the figures. They were primed at the weekend, and today the first colours were sprayed on. For the NBC suits I used Vallejo Olive Green (RLM 80), which had a black pre-shade. Looks like I lost most of the pre-shade though . The heads received a spraying of Vallejo medium flesh 70.860 first, then another spray from above with Vallejo Flat flesh and Light Flesh (70.955 and 70.928). This will dry off until tomorrow, then I'll chose between oils and enamels or acrylics for the next stages. Any encouragement or critique is warmly welcomed here, as said figure painting is a real handicap for me.

Nice start Paul! I used to paint figures many, many moons ago. My technic are less than average, but I always worked with oils over acrylics. To fabric I used a color darker than the original one, applied it over all fabric parts, let dry for five minutes and remove it using a soft piece of cotton fabric. The darker shade remains into the recessed parts and the movement of clean the oils make a good blend. Same for the flesh parts, using a mix of Haw Umber (3 parts), Burnt Siena (2 parts) and Naples Yellow (1 part). The result is a kind of brown, that matches perfectly to make shadows. For the lights, in clothes, the old and gold dry brush. For flesh, pure Naples Yellow blended with shadows. Hope I made myself understood. May I show one of my ancient works? It's a big (1:16 scale I think), but I used the same technic on 54mm figures. Hope it can helps!

I always use a good old brush with my figures.
Marco’s is tops though.
Paul, you’re lucky using red zebra. That stuff is the bees knees.

Thank you all kindly chaps . Marco, is there anything you can't build? Today has been a track day . And these were a real PITA . Apart from being fiddly, the didn't want to line up, which meant re-drilling and re pinning. This is the first time I have to fight Friuls, these took 4 hours to get together, including adding the silly little end connectors to trap the pins in place . I'm gonna paint a bit more on the figures now to relax

I think the tracks worth all the work. The sag, the weight and the shape look perfect! Oh, I can't build planes

Many thanks Marco . I reckon these are so troublesome because they are small, all the other tracks I do are at least twice the size and work perfectly .

Cheers Boots-dude . As said, I reckon it's the size of them. The smaller the things get the trickier they are to cast. I still have a couple of small sets ahead of me, Lorraine, Panzer 1 Ausf C, Sdkfz 250. We'll see then if it's just wickle ones that cause trouble
