I think there are a few more things in their arsenal that we don't know about You gotta love how they look in that weathered state

great pic, that's why I've always fancied doing one myself. The weathering potential is amazing.

Today I gave the canopy the once over with my new Tamiya polishing gear . This is the result, without using the wax . I certainly like it and IMHO, it's better than dipping in any gloss coats.

Guy, that is something I have never yet achieved with varnish, if I polish it it'll probably blind us . Si, go for it fella. There is also a coarse version of paste for the harder cases. I'll certainly get some of that, because I know how ham-fisted I can be with these things

That certainly worked well. You'll have The Red Arrows after you to polish their canopies.

I shall be adding only the empty weapons pylons to my build, but definitely the fuel tanks. The AIM pylons for the fuselage are a load of, lets say not so usable long plastic things. So, I made a couple of new ones (without launch rail), which are a tad more like the real deal . Unfortunately, the holes which needed to be drilled before the fuselage was glued together, don't line up . Not sure if it was my mistake or, if the drill points are off in the kit . Anyway, here's what I mean and what I shall add instead . More soon chaps

Nothing wrong with adding a bit more detail Paul, and that looks great. Ian, there’s something about an aircraft all folded up and catches my eye too, and the space saved is useful too

Paul, the canopy looks great and glad you found a method you like. I had meant to ask you about the AIM-9 rails because I had noticed the downward angle of the holes on my bird as well. However, I started looking at some pics and I think the downward angle is in fact accurate. In the photo below the AIM-9 is definitely not parallel with the upper panel line of the access panel. Think I learned something new about A-7s. FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES ONLY

Just now saw this. I believe the reason they had the pylons angled downward was to help reduce the effect of the exhaust on the eyes of the pilot. Coming straight off the rails, that red-hot exhaust plume would be right in his eyes. Angled downward causes the missile to dip a bit before speeding off to it's intended target, thus reducing the glare from the exhaust.
You guys are really coming along well on these. I also like that Navy bird that Ian posted; although trying to replicate that paint job is far beyond my meager skills and capabilities.
