I've had a busy modelling weekend guys, I kept going until 03.30h last night What I did? The bullet deflector didn't feel right and after finding some images showing the thing from different angles I carefully removed my mark I deffy as it was complete rubbish. I then curved pieces of strip styrene by rubbing them with the fine wooden grip of a brush on a thick cloth. I cut and shaped the parts and glued them in place. I made weld seams from stretched sprue. The whitewash was done (hairspray method). I also applied an oil wash (my favourite burnt umber + ultramarine mixture) but I still have to do the right side of it. The lower hull will get separate attention later on. I went for the hairspray method to create the base of the whitewash. Much more effects will be added, I want to make it look pretty vibrant and what I absolutely don't want is to end up with a boring dead Stug. A dark yellow whitewashed vehicle won't look as cool as a Panzergrau one without extra effort I think. The deflector was given its paint and tomorrow the whitewash will go on.

Hey chaps I've taken some in-progress pics. The dirty wash was applied on the other side so that was round no 1. It makes a day/night difference and the toy like tank is slowly disappearing to make room for the more serious bizniz. This pic shows the Stug after a subtle passing with the airbrush to tune up the white which was slightly toned down due to the wash. I used a 0,15 mm needle to spray on misty translucent cloudy patterns still showing what's under it. The new deflector was given a whitewash over the hairspray and with a toothpick I partially removed it to get a worn, scratchy effect. With a big brush fine results can be achieved. I've barely done a thing and I'm pretty pleased already (not as usual for a change). 😁 However a whooooole lot more to do.
