It's minimal wiring actually. Revell provide a circuit board which sticks to the lower hull and both LED strips plug into. Good job really as I'm easily bamboozled

Evening all,

A little more explanation of the basing of these beasts. The aluminium  tube is mounted through the lower half of the hull and takes the power pack wires down to a length of 6" x 2" timber, fortunately left over from the summer's decking project outside.





I sprayed the first tube before I mounted it with BMW Cosmos Black from Halfords only to scratch it and get overspray from the hull on it. Therefore I only primed the second one and masked it up for the black after fitting.



I cut out a corner section of the wood to screw in the power pack which consists of 4 x AA batteries.





Painting stages next once I've sorted the pictures out. No surprises about the basecoat for these beasts though. Halfords again and this time Ford Dove Grey.

Some chaotic sequences of pictures now as these two weren't finished together but I hope they show the process.

The biggest challenge I found was to convey the size of these machines if they were full size.

I'll start with this overhead view of the two of them on the kitchen table which gives a true indication of their size.



The next show views of the nose going back over the upper hull to the bridge mid weathering. The process was a bit hit and miss if I'm honest but I think I managed to pull it off. Several washes of black ink, brown ink and then burnt umber oil wash alternated with layers of dry brushing with enamels, gloss white and various pale greys. Additionally I used a fine propelling pencil to draw in some of the panel lines, used with some judicious finger smudging.

I lost count of the layers and different areas were done at different times to keep it random.
