As the truck has gone into the weathering stage, it is drying in between steps: it got a first filter, gloss coat.. waiting to dry now to receive some decalls.. And finished the tracks for the M51, made them in 2 pieces so I can attach them later on... sprayed everything in primer, decided to use a Tamiya oxide red primer this time, just to see what kind of effect this will give underneath a sand color: And this gives me time to start building something else again... I have this lying around... Another kit I bought with extra's in it..
And just in case you thought I forgot... offcourse I will have to do a crew for the M51...and i have a set of towing cables, meant for a German tank, but I think it will look fine on this...

Thank you all very much for your kind words, hope this will turn out allright, it's one with an interior... so lot more details and detail painting. And I got the idea for an IDF Achilles because of seeing great pictures of build models, and according to this article about it the IDF did use them... ut they were taken out of service before the six day war.. never mind, I like this model, will use it anyway That resin set is not very big, just some jerrycans, smoke launchers, ammo boxes and stowage.... wonder how much that would have costed when it was bought... Have been searching on the maker, AEF, found a lot of sets on Scalemates, and info on the web, a no longer excisting company that did a lof of IDF resins sets.

Bert that is spooky, I was looking at the IDF Achilles on ebay earlier today . Looking forward to seeing how this turns out Hi Paul, I didn't know there was a real IDF version on sale.. so after your message I went over to Ebay ... looks really good! Kit is 30 euro, postage another 18 euro... but living in Germany postage will be a lot less for you.. I have just compared the sprues on a polish webshop, there is a different D sprue in the real IDF kit... but of that one only the jerry cans, the figures and what looks like the search light are used... not much difference.. will have to figure out something to make a searchlight.. an allways take one from the M50 I still have...

his is a really nice kit, great fit, hardly anything to clean up, nice details... got most of the hull finished, can still take the inside out of it to paint, once that is painted and stuck back in, some small bits will be glued to the side walls. Added some bolts to some parts of the suspencion, once you have started doing those things it is hard to ignore it on a next kit... Thanks to a great video and pictures of a M10 in the Islraeli tank museum in Latrun I knew which wheels and front to use. I also found out the Israeli changed the position of the gunner, he moved from left to right hand side of the gun, along with the cranking wheels.. Left of the gun they installed a .30 machinegun.. so that will be a bit of puzzling and fixing when I start on the turret. And some pictures:
Paul, if that IDF version is still available, and you are still thinking about it... get it... it is a very nice kit!

Thanks very much everyone! Ian: I don't want to but think I will have to do this with stowage, came with a set ... Paul: Like I said, there is not a whole lot of difference between the two versions, especially since the IDF kit doesn't have the main difference: switching the gunners position for a MG, the rest is mainly stowage.. Steve: I read an article about this one, seems it wasn't a great succes in IDF service, they were taken out of service in 1965... but in my world one of them stayed on duty..

This is fantastic! I never knew the Israelis had these either. I'll be building one in my scale (UM has one) to add to my Israeli Army. They might not have had the long, but they did serve so one will be included.
