Over the past 4 weeks or so, I've built this simple project to end the year.
I wanted to build the Revell Babylon 5 Station, but not as designed in the box. I wanted to build it as a simulated brass desk model, similar to metal aircraft or ship "trophies" many former military members may have seen. When the show actually aired, the set designers actually did this by giving Captain John Sheridan a station model in his office:
I modified the supports on the kit base, which were molded as both supports and part of the station itself, so the base and station could be separated. Here's what the base looks like painted up and reshaped so the station can just sit on it:
The station was simply primed in black and then sprayed with Model Master Brass Metalizer to give it a simulated metal appearance.
