Thanks gents. 7 months since last update...not a surprise really. Since the Slotfabrik decals were expensive AND utter testomonial (big price, nu precut decals, thick carrier film, wrong fonts used in contrast to the real stickers on the car) I felt I couldn't continue. Which is a pitty. Since there's no way I can design my own decals, let alone print them, I had to find an interesting decal sheet. But before that - and it hurt, because I liked the Hello Kitty livery car - I had to remove the decals and sand down the car again   Then respray the car. I chose the HTP Motorsport Mann Filter livery which the car ran at the 24H of the Nürburgring in 2018. The cool thing was the snakeskin livery. Hobby Design has a decal sheet for this, and Spotmodel has a dedicated colour for the HTP Motorsport cars (although the yellow isn't 100% the same as on the snakeskin decals). It's a nice vibrant colour, but a pain in the bum to get on camera with the right tone. The horrors we modellers need to face ey   However - next setback. The snakeskin decals were hard to handle and sit nice around details. So I gave up on them. A shame really. So in stead of making a 100% correct realtime car I chose to use the sponsors decals and just make a nice model out of it. Realism or not. Other than that the decals were a treat really. Nice thin carrier film, but not too brittle, and the decals sit snug. Some application of SOL and Mr. Mark Softer were needed here and there, but boy does it look good!    Decals for the tyres and rims were provided as well and they are cool. Just one small typo in the painted red areas on the rear rims. In the red there's a text which should say 'rear'. But in stead it says: 'rare'  . But it's so friggin small probably no one will notice LOL  Next step will be painting some more details, add them to the body and add a coat of varnish. And after that most people would call it a day. But you guys now me, I don't like clean models. So stay tuned (hopefully not for another 7 months ) |
