The idea with the jerry cans is not total fiction on my part. In the book from W.J. Spielberger and H.L. Doyle, Panzer V Panther, there is a picture of a Panther D, being towed in the Kursk region. On this picture you can definitely see 1 Jerry can on the right hand track carrier For discussion purposes only

I missed a few pages on this Dragon kit, but checked them all again. That's a German Steel beauty Paul. Thanks for all the tips with the pigments and periscopes, it will be handy for some future builds.
I think the metal tracks give a great look. The Alpine figure is fantastic.
Congrats on another award winning kit ( that's a sure thing ) !!
