Thank you Paul, Boots, Tommy, Pete, Wouts &, Ian. Much appreciated. Sorry for the long delay. I painted the deck with A.MIG-0037 New Wood colour. I left it a couple of days to dry, then applied a wash with Burnt Umber gouache. After the wash had dried, I removed the excess with a moist piece of kitchen roll. This brought out the fine plank detail lines of the deck on the submarine casing. I think the fore end of the deck, where the catapult is mounted, needs a little more cleaning up. Other than that, I’m happy enough with it. I can now mask the wood sections over, and apply the hull colour.

Paul, Duke &, Tommy. Thank you my friends.
I’m way behind with this and the Phantom, so I’ve got to get my ass in gear! I’ve yet to finish a model yet this year! I got more done when I worked!

That is a superb job you've done there Joe, the detail in the deck has really come out with that wash

That's a great technique, results are brilliant.
I love this type of thing, where normal artist or household items are used in our hobby. No need for expensive brand names.

Thank you,Steve. I’ve used gouache for years now. I’ve tried other stuff, but end up going back to the gouache. I use Winsor & Newton.
