While I was looking for the RN rocket pods for my GR3 I found this. It must have been in the loft for 8 years judging by where it was. It's been started and I remember shelving it when I saw the hull join lines showing though the paint. Don't think they show up on the pic but they are there. I've a bit more patience now so a good helping of filler it is. Sanded it off once dry and a gloss coat of rattle can black to check and the join is gone. Time now to flat this back ready for a mix of very dark grays.

Oh, good to see a subby being built. Are you going to put it in a water scene? Please say yes

Thanks for the support and stopping by fellas !
Wouter, I was thinking about a water scene but with a sub like this you hide most of it. Unlike a ship the sub is wider under the waterline so I'd have to cut it too I reckon. I do have something in the stash that's earmarked for a watery base though :-)

You can always try the messy resin option like some great ship modellers have done before mmm...you're making me curious about the other subby though ^^

I did build it on here but haven't got any pics as the mat varnish reacted with the decal solution and left white mark on it that I couldn't get off so I threw it in the bin. I rushed the varnish after the decals

Cheers all! Sorry for the lack of updates on this, I have been a bit busy with the AB. I decided to go the HMS Trenchant in her experimental camouflage paint. I can't find a lot of information but it seems to have been an attempt to break up the shape of the sub in shallow clear waters. Many think that these boats spend all their time in deep dark seas but as the grounding of one of the Astute class off Skye showed they can and are operated in tidal coastal waters. I don't know if the camo stayed on the sub long enough to get much weathering but I've decided to go for worn and rusty in a effort to avoid a toy-like look. Working over a semigolss coat at the moment, hence the slightly rough look. Pics
