I got some paint on the P-40. I went with Mission Models Olive Drab for the top coat. I then post-shaded that with the same Olive Drab tinted with some yellow. I did a lot of fading because these RAAF -40s were fairly worn, judging by some photos. I then added some fading to the fabric-covered ailerons. For that, I used Mission Models Faded Olive Drab and masked off the ailerons with Post-It notes since they are low-tack.

That's looking good Ian. I always like faded and worn paintjobs. Seems this MM colours have a nice tone to them. Cool base for further weathering.

Thanks, guys! I found some photos of the bird I am building and I have to make some paint adjustments. Apparently the lower part of the cowling was actually RAAF Sky Blue, instead of Neutral Gray, as indicated on the decal sheet. Also, the prop spinner is apparently dark blue instead of red as recommended on the ASK Decal sheet. Thought it was interesting there is actually white overspray on the prop blades. Ian, that is just typical with the info . You lay down a grand base coat and along comes the detail devil and tells you correct it . Never mind, your bird will awesome in the end

Beautiful paintwork Ian, you've certainly captured a war worn look and the different surface textures.
The picture is great too. I'd say there's a natural metal tank there too but it's notoriously difficult to be sure with B&W photos.
