Probably the final update in 2022, a subtle wash I made with ultramarine blue and burnt umber thinned with white spirit. Onto the fuselage a second wash (a tad less thinned?) will be applied later. I have to throw my armor weathering experience overboard now I guess.😄

Thank you Pete and John! Just to inform the chaps who like to work with the Vallejo Metal paints, it's perfectly do-able to airbrush Tamiya Clear Gloss thinned with Laquer Thinner from Tamiya over these paints. It's safe to spray on thin mists and let dry after each coat. Don't soak a part in the mixture but work patiently. This part proves it works just fine. Now it's time to slap on the last decals and finish the cupola which had a polishing with Tamiya Finish polisher.

I don't use Tamiya gloss anymore, errm... only for gluing loose decals or some clear parts

Thanks Paul, that's a nice range of coats. The Revells Aqua Gloss is fantastic, I just love that one. Are the Vallejo's still feeling rubbery?

The Gloss Varnish is okay to work with, but the Gloss Medium takes some working out. That needs some careful thinning, however the Varnish can be thinned as much as you like. I find the Medium is best added to a colour and then sprayed, that way it doesn't turn rubbery.

I`ve got the VMS Gloss and Matt and Vallejo Matt and Satin....or gloss!.......can`t remember. I`ve often hairy brushed Vallejo Matt on stubborn decals that sometimes silver even after normal treatment.....i just put 1 drop onto a pallet and thinly brush it on.........dried up ok as well, the VMS stuff was managable and thats what i used on the GT40 build......generally i smooth down between each pass with the compound sponge or as you mentioned....a tissue even . They say 90% of the work is in the preparation , i only use this method on shiney stuff tho....and probably on wingies because of the importance of the final finish, armour doesn`t require such finesse! Never used the Revell before.....is it easy enough to use?

Paul and Boots, thank you to "clear" this matter on varnishes up! Ian, thanks mate. The fuselage was given a satin varnish with Dullcote from Testors, wonderful but stinky really smelly stuff. Now I'm applying a second round of slightly heavier washes section after section to keep everything under control. I've started with the nose.
