Super 68 is back in the fight. Today I got the landing gear struts installed. As you can see, the left strut is rockin' the scratch-built forks which had disintegrated a few steps ago. As usual Academy was fighting me on the struts. The well for the vertical strut was too thick so it pushed the strut towards the fuselage and knocked the whole array out of alignment. I had to shave down the strut well to give the strut enough room so it would be perfectly vertical. The lower gear fairing cover was left off as the 160th birds did not have those fitted. I attached the stub fairings that cover the ESSS shoulder pylon attachment point. The fit on these was not great and there was a large gap that to be filled there. The horizontal stab was installed and is shown in the drooped positon, which was common on the ground. I also installed the strakes which mount to the exhaust fairings. I finally got the left side chaff bucket arrangement figured out after finally finding a good picture of the left side tail boom area of Durant's MH-60L, Super 64, in-theater. I will have to tweak the mounting system a little as I don't think the one Academy supplies is correct. I also found out these had a bat-wing style antennae to the right of the Disco-Light IR jammer on top of the engine bay. That will have to be scratch-built. Onwards and sideways......
