Thank you gentlemen, very much appreciated. I’m going to give the fuselage a going over with gauche tomorrow. I’ll post a couple of photos when I’ve done it. It really is easier than it looks. The main thing is to have a nice polished surface.

How I use gouache to weather and bring out the panel lines. First, the gouache must be applied to a gloss finish or it will stain any Matt finish and be harder to clean the excess off. Next, a thin coat of gouache is brushed on straight from the tube. I have thinned it in the past and sprayed it on. This works well, but obviously the airbrush has to be cleaned out. Lastly, with only the thinnest amount of moisture, rub off the excess with a combination of, kitchen roll, make up remover pads, or cotton buds to get in the smallest areas. I usually just dab the kitchen roll (or whatever I’m using), on my tongue. You only want it to be slightly damp. Some areas remain slightly stained which adds to the weathering effect. Note, the base colour will always darken no matter how much cleaning off you do.

Thank you, Paul, Ian and, Boots. It really is that easy. Boots, you would have no problem. It’s a lot easier than what you armour lads get up to. It’s just mainly flat surfaces, not covered in all bits and pieces to work round. I’ve put the main decals in place. These are the kit decals and are not bad as I think the only weak spot with Tamiya can be the decals. But I did manage to break the cross on the upper port wing into four bits! My fault, not the decals. I didn’t wet the surface first, then it broke up as I dragged it in place. I put it back the best I could. It look’s better with the naked eye than it does in the photos. Applying the decals does activate the gouache again, so that will need a bit more attention. For some unknown reason, I didn’t paint the front engine panel! Silly me, I’ll have to sort that out when I paint the undercarriage and other bits and pieces.

Thank you, Paul. My own fault for being heavy handed. I done it just after I was rough housing with the dog and wasn’t concentrating.

The whole process adds a lot of depth to the build as well as popping the panel lines. I like it.

And it looks flawless!
