So after another disaster with one of my ill-fated builds I though I'd go 'Easy' on myself with a Tamiya kit and stowage. After an hour I'm here This'll be more or less out of the box so should move along nicely before starting my Movie GB Mozzy

Thanks for stopping by fellas It was Pete's TD that inspired me to go for an allied tank and so far it's fun. The only thing I don't really like is the barrel, the muzzle brake is a bit soft. Metal one on its way from Poland no less!

Nice one Steve. I've always wondered about scale weight. What would be the scale weight of a 1/48th Sherman?

Excellent choice, Steve! Yes, I love weights in tanks too; sit level or else.

After another enjoyable hour at the bench were here Turret is made from three parts and the join matches the casting joint on the real thing, nice work T. Roughed this up a bit with MEK thinned Revell filler, but not too much in this scale I reckon. Looks okay under primer so moved on. The kit barrel is only dry fitted for now as a metal replacement is on its way. In fairness it's not that bad but the metal one will be sharper Quick question for my armour modelling friends... Who was the stowage, kit bags secured to the turret ? There are no hooks on the kit.

Stowage on the turret was secured anyway they could but was probably limited to a few packs or helmets. the rear deck was a more popular stowage area especially with the rear rack in place as well. Below are some pictures from my 1/35th build which might help. Great work as well, that turret does look cool.

Yes, Steve, I agree with Pete; rear deck and side sponsons were popular stowage areas on the Easys. The rear deck has the drop down rack and the side sponsons had those convenient support beams to tie stuff too. Front glacis was good too. They could run a metal beam or scrap bar between the fenders to pile stuff on top of. For the turret, I have seen photos of Easys with makeshift rods welded on to hang the packs off of.

Thanks fellas .
Boots, Pete, great info and pics they help a lot.
I've found some on the web too but it's hard to be sure that they are WWII and not Korea so I'll follow your leads.
