I decided to pull this off one the shelf for a slight refurb. This was a Revell 1/48th F-15E kit that I built ten years or so ago, as a Royal Saudi Air Force F-15S with Two Bobs Decals. The Revell kit is truly outstanding. However, the underwing missile rails are incorrect for a newer version Mudhen, along with a few other things. I recently picked up the excellent Phase Hangar resin update set which has the correct pylons and LAU-128 rails to depict any current Mudhen. It also includes the correct center line pylon in the set. My original ordnance load out was incorrect so I pulled off that ordnance and I am going to re-arm her with items more appropriate for an early version Pratt & Whitney powered Saudi F-15S. I got the new pylons and rails assembled and primed. I am going to use four Hasegawa MK. 83 1000 lb. bombs for the load-out. These were painted with Mission Models Olive Drab and Tamiya Yellow for the nose ring. I wanted the ordnance to look fairly dusty and weathered so I used my new AK Flexible mottle mask and sprayed some Vallejo Matte Varnish tinted with Vallejo Iraqi Sand to give them a spotty over coat. I also have to modify the left vertical stab. The early Saudi F-15S' had same-size fairings at the fin tip, instead of the left one being larger like on the U.S. versions. I will cut the left bullet fairing off and fabricate a new one to match the right side.
