Paul, Tommy, Joe, Ian, thanks for the supportive comments! I've been blending paint to find the typical German Luftwaffe camo colour shades and it was very difficult to get them right. I can tell you, I succeeded only for about 90% but I can live with the results.

This looks excellent, Guy, and these yellow nosed Emils really looked sexy.

Ian and Paul chaps, thank you. I started with the decals (an awful lot of them btw). I also brushed on some chipped paint. The swastika marking consists of two decals?!

Magnificent work Guy! The markings sure bring this to life!
The swastika was done in two parts due to the regulations in some European countries that don't ant them displayed. This is one of their workarounds so we can reflect history in our work.

Well done with those stickers Guy . Mark is right, Eduard have made the swastikas that way, so that the kit can be sold in Germany without any problems.

Thanks Duke and Paul. The two part swastika decals are a plausible solution then, good thinking. Currently I'm adding the smallest decals ever to the fuselage.

Pete, Bert, thanks my friends. Bert, I was thinking just the same. Finally one side is now done with the decalism. Talking decals, they are super thin, strong and easily sink in nooks and crannies with Microscale Set and Sol. I'm not sure but they seem to show minor silvering but not in a disturbing way. I love this kit and there's another one to be done, I can't wait to be honest

Once the decals were put in place (which was quite a job btw) the Me109E was given a Tamiya gloss clear coat yesterday. Today I applied an oil wash (40% ultramarine blue + 60% burnt umber thinned with white spirit (the smelly kind, not the bio one which needs 500 years to dry!). The panel lines and many rivets look delicate and subtle however the wash makes them stand out just perfect. This is my first Eduard kit but what a tremendous job they did! There's still a bit of tiny bit/bob colouring to do and a lot of oil washing.
