HI all,
What's your best advice for a really glossy black, preferably using acrylic paint please? Obviously gloss black paint, but I've seen good results of red over gold to give shine. Can I do black over silver to achieve more gloss? Any other tips and tricks welcome. This will be used in my build for a TV and movie GB on another forum, but will post here too..
Thanks everyone.

I'm going to try to get a good gloss black on my model-T using Tamiya X-1 and a good gloss varnish
Keep em peeled

The only gloss black I have used is Tamiya X-1. Is it good? Hard to say as I only used it twice, both times for aircraft. It was alright for I wanted, but some people struggle with it.

I`ve only ever used the Tam to be honest X-1 Dale, it does work well but don`t try and get a gloss shine straight away......it`ll look shite!, i apply thin coverage over the vehicle and leave a few mins to let dry, i then rub it back gently all over to get rid of that grainy feel......it doesn`t matter if you remove paint from the edges in fact sometimes it`s better if you do thin it back.....it`stops the build up of paint on sharp edges, i simply use a rubbing compound sponge or even a soft lint free cloth. I do about 5-6 coats overall and do exactly the same between each pass......you simply be less vigerous as you near the final coat prior to glossing, i know it sounds a bit long winded but worth thinking about........trying to acheive a gloss finish on the first pass is risky.....it may be gloss but you have to work it ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) This is just my way of doing it but everybody has their own technique ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
