Thanks all B) Welcome aboard Boots buddy! Robbo, it was your Spitfire that made me want to add a late war RAF bird to my collection

Here we are then. Airfix 1/72 Tempest V depicted with field applied D-day stripes.. that's my excuse for the not so neat edges Thanks to all for your company and onto the next one! And one with my Airfx Typhoon from a couple of years ago, I'm pleased that I managed to get a different finish to the paint as a lot of the Tempest aircraft were polished Thier ground crew to increase its speed when chasing V1's

That does look nice and the stripes. Yeh I know what you mean as thereโs a bit of a mis-match between what we expect to see on a model and how they were often applied, well at least to my understanding.

Bravo Steve-Meister Interesting point about the polishing also . The drag was also the reason for the RAF ditching the Soot Black paint on their Night Fighters. See, I have being doing some reading lately

Beautiful Tempest, Steve! And great to see her with her stormy sister. Great bit of history about the polishing of the actual finish. The speed these aircraft could demonstrate was really amazing and I think the Tempest doesn't get the recognition it deserves for being such a powerful fighter. These crews knocked down lots of V-1s and saved lots of lives due to the speed and ability of this airframe.

Excellent. Never knew a 1/72 could come out so well.
Interesting facts about the birds too.
