Dragon seem to have given up releasing new 1/35 kits so instead now go for take an existing kit, chuck a few extras in it and job done. It’s weird that it’s not that long ago that many people considered them the kits of choice.

I must admit that I have encountered problems with Dragon kits, mostly the instructions, but everything else so low key. They still rate high in my book, and that 250 is certainly one of their trouble free kits. Even with the added PaK 38 it shouldn't be a problem, apart from the price that is . The original Cyberhobby kit was €42, I reckon this will now run at €65

The original Cyberhobby kit was €42, I reckon this will now run at €65 I’ve had four Dragon kits. The Sherman DV was my own fault as I’d only just got back into modelling and my skill set really wasn’t up to the job. Panzerjager I, awful instructions and suffered from mashing two kits together. Oh and magictracks of that size, not fun at all. Sexton II, dreadful fit especially the lower to upper hull, again the problem of mashing two kits together. Type 95 Ha-Go, an absolutely lovely kit even though not a lot of plastic for your money. My real problem though, at their price point they seem to have a habit of putting out kits that are at least problematic. I got to the point of thinking I’m not prepared to give them money. Edit: An example you may like, Takom Hetzer with a full interior. Supposed to be a nice kit and you can get it for less than £50. I can support that.

Dragon had certainty been at the top of their game in the early 2000's, maybe until 2008/2010 , despite their subjects were mainly WW2, but I remember the release of their Tigers and Panthers with decent set of PE, metal gun barrel, with a few variants inside each box, with 800 to 1000 parts I admit, but they were very, very good kits. The instructions were a hit or miss, but nevertheless in 2023, there isn't a better Sd.kfz. 234's 8x8 kits than Dragon's. Their detail and engineering at the time was one of the best. The prices were between 35€ to 55€ . But now, as mentioned before, they simply upgrade their old kits with more metal, some 3D printing or Resin items and that's it. They can't match Trumpeter, Meng or Takom on price and quality. Their Tigers and other Panzers are still good kits but 80€ for a Panzer IV Ausf.G with the same extras than Border or Takom kits, even Miniart with their Full Interior range for sometimes half the price tag..
Sometimes when I find good discounts on their kits I get one because some of their variants are unique but it has to be a really good price tag.

Possbly that’s why Dragon had their problems. They carved out their part of the market but then all these new vendors came on the scence that started eating into it. If you look at say Tamiya they upped their game with better detailed kits, for them at least, but still keeping their signature of this will be easy to build but that comes at a price tag. Dragon on the other hand seem to have just relied on the reputation.
