I have yet to build an Intruder as well. This might be an opportunity. I see they are copying Dragon with the Stryker ATGM system. Don't need one since I have the Dragon one built already.

I just don't trust Trumpeter (or HobbyBoss) with airplanes.

I just don't trust Trumpeter (or HobbyBoss) with airplanes. I'd tend to agree and spend my money on the Arma kit. That said let's see what price it is and what the 'experts' say. I think the larger scale Intruder is quite well respected...

I guess you guys are worried about things like it being 1,05 mm to long and some panellines are in the wrong place? Good thing I am not too fussy... I can buy anything and build it Not that I don't admire your devoition to building 99,999% accurate

I can buy anything and build it Not that I don't admire your devoition to building 99,999% accurate I probably care the least about minor dimensional issues, of anybody on here. But sometimes, it goes way beyond that with some early Trumpeter and Hobbyboss aircraft---especially Hobbyboss. Examples like the HB F-111 which has a front fuselage that is so distorted, it actually looks like a Toon Kit. So bad, I actually sawed the whole front section off of mine and replaced it with the front fuselage of a Zenghfu F-111, and the Zenghfu kit is certainly no prize but shape-wise certainly looked better than what HB had done. The HB F6F Hellcat cockpit is so wide it can almost seat two pilots side by side. They put the wrong wings in some of their Corsair kits. Their FM Wildcats have the wrong cowling. They even marketed a Fleet Air Arm F4U-1A variant using the Korean War era F4U-4 airframe, which is an entirely different aircraft. That Trumpeter KA-3 Skywarrior I built has a canopy that is shaped so badly, it also looks like an Egg-Plane. With these issues, we are talking about $60.00-100.00 kits with either severe distortions or entirely different kits or parts. Those are the things I take issue with, because it's not right we pay that amount of money to end up with things that are more like caricatures than the actual plane. I am perfectly happy with a stack of Monogram Century Series jet kits from the 80s because they will have great seats, wheel bays and details right out of the box that still rival some of the stuff that HB and Trumpeter has produced, at least in the aircraft genre. And as far as plane kits go, Hasegawa, Tamiya and Kinetic also do a great job with aircraft kits. I love Trumpeters 35th scale armor line, though.

Hi Ian, hope you didn't get offended by my post, didn't mean anything serious with it.
Because that is the difference between you and me, I usually don't do that kind of research into a kit, therefore I have no idea if a canopy is to wide, and an F4 is an F4 to me, no idea about the different versions. I always love to read your detailed stories about the plane you are building though, so I know you are much more into getting the correct version etc. That is more what I meant.
And ofcourse the fact that I buy kits of 10-20 euro helps a lot as well, I would be really sick as well if I payed that amount of money for a kit and than to find out it is basically wrong...

Not at all, Bert. I just happened to fall victim to all those examples I had cited in my post.I think a few of these companies use "questionable " marketing tactics (especially HobbyBoss) on top of a large price tag for their product. I had bought two of those HB F-111s because I always loved that aircraft, and ended up with one in the trash and the other only half HobbyBoss by the time I was done because they made it look like an Egg-Plane. Fortunately I got mine 60% off from Spruebrothers (they could barely give them away) but I know some builders that paid the full $100.00. I just want a kit that it's in the ballpark for how it's supposed to look but there are lots of very pricey examples out there where the manufacturers have really sold us a terrible product. HobbyBoss has produced a few in their jet line that are great, such as the Hornets and Tomcats but for whatever reason they really bombed those other releases that I mentioned.

.....and Bert, it is actually physically impossible to offend me.ππππ There's a challenge !! But....I'm going to tour the US when I retire in 2025 and I don't want to be looking over my shoulder the whole trip! Trumpeter's main problem with their aircraft kits is that they will just change the decals and call it a different version. The 109F & G series are a prime example of this. The Hurricanes will most likely have the same issue, they'll drop canon in the box , new decals (in the wrong colours) and call it a 'D Trop'
