Hi chaps and female chaps It's time for me to show my entry for the GB. Hopefully I can manage to finish a model within 3 months time - which is lightning speed for me . I'm going to build a Zero, Tamiya's rendition of the A6M5. I'm going to keep things simple and build her OOB. Cool thing is the kit comes with four figures I have no Japanese dedicated paints, so I'll need to check what paints I can use/mix from the stash...time for a challenge ey

What a great choice Wouts. I made this a while ago. It's a smashing kit.

Glad to have you peeps with me for the ride. Though the combo Duvel and plastic might not be ideal LOL (actually, and it's sad to say: I haven't been drinking Duvel for over a year or so. Time to start again after the build I reckon No photos yet. I have been cleaning up all the parts for the cockpit, and man are there many parts or what. They are now in a foamy bath to degrease. Hopefully I manage to prime and maybe basecoat them somewhere this week. Depends a bit on the weather...it's gonna be bloody hot (atrb_partsz)

So, cockpit parts are cleaned and prepped. Primer applied was Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black and after that...I had to mix my own interior green. Question is wether it's ok or not. Probably purists will say 'That's not Mitsubishi's variant of the interior green' but well...I don't care I reckon . It's a mix of Mr. Hobby Bright Green, Tamiya Lemon Yellow and a tad of Mr. Hobby RLM71 Dunkel GrĂ¼n. Weathering should change the tone a bit though. Quite hard to get the color on photo as in the flesh. Next up some detail painting and perhaps interior decals. After that I reckon it can take a couple of weeks before we see some more progress. They are forecasting temperatures which are bonkers the next few days so....ouch. I hate hot weather

Gents, thank you, glad you like it ^^ Details have been painted....quite nervewrecking . I also added the decals for the dials. Strangely enough the decals weren't what I expected. I thought that each dial would have had a separate decal, but that's not the case. The are grouped on the carrier film and need to be applied as such. So I hope the carrier film will settle nicely around the details Anyhow, I think they might need another round of setting solution and then we can add varnish. And do some light weathering. In comparison with the only 1/48 bird I built so far - being the 109 G-6 - the Zero's cockpit seems to be even more cramped...makes sense in a way since the Japanese arent' the tallest people on earth I reckon.
