Hello there scurvies . After doing something rather large scale, I decided to come back down to earth and do something small The Gneisenau Battleship in 1/700 The Gneisenau was the sister ship of the Scharnhorst, this was a twin battleship class of the Kriegsmarine of Germany. These two ships, were the first two to break the Versailles contract. Here's a link to the history of the Scharnhorst Class. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_battleship_GneisenauThis build is Tamiya's waterline version in 1/700, this I shall build more or less OOB. I am looking at this build as a "test run" for the Tirpitz I have in the same scale . Anyway here's the start More soon you Pirates

Ian, great to have you on-board fella . Steve, I promise to do my best sir . Jeff, yep I'll agree that is small . Cheers fella and enjoy the voyage Guy, I thought the sister-ship of the Scharnhorst would catch your attention . Bearing in mind that this kit is from 1975 , all I can say is it's darned good . The only two fit problems till now are these: The Aft of the ship doesn't quite mate up with main hull part. The Funnel has a little gap where it joins the main hull. Nothing that a little putty and white stuff didn't cure . Pete, glad you have joined the "Good ship Venus" too meistro . Todays doings are as follows, filled and sanded the dodgy Aft hull. Added some missing port holes and cooling vents on the rear hanger deck housing. Then after seeing the kit catapult, I decided to scratch a new one . More soon monsiuers

Jeff, many thanks sire . Steve, I suppose you could say that . Okay chaps been doing some more on this. Got the main turrets together, and the range finders needed some filling. So i used the good Deluxe Materials Perfect Plastic Putty , this stuff is great for this scale. Slap it on, let it dry a couple of minutes and then wash away with a q-tip soaked in window cleaner . This I have used on all areas that needed filling apart from the funnel area. before After Main Superstructures all in place apart from the search lights and guns More soon fellas, as always ACACW

Ah, good to see another floater being built. Gneisenau is one of my favourite ships in the game World of Warships Nice work so far I must say, and kudos to you, 1/700 is so scary and small! Cheers
