Thanks, Boots. Alot of those Panzer Aces colors come in handy for things other than.......panzers. Very nice just to brush paint with, too, in certain cases. Regards, Ian

Thanks, Steve!! I am getting close to the finish line on the Tomcat. I got the ordnance painted after I masked off the ordnance stripes. I used Vallejo Light Ghost Grey for the missile bodies and Vallejo Dark Rubber for the AIM-7 fins. I used Vallejo Natural Steel for the front sections of the AIM-9s. I also got the canopy masked off and painted with Model Master FS35237 Med. Grey over Enamel Flat Black. "Gypsy 207" bore the names of Lieutenants Spangler and York when the engagement occurred so I used those decal options from the sheet. The MIG kill mark and Cmdr. Connelly's and Cmdr. Enwright's names were painted on the airframe after the engagement. I just have to place the decal lightning rods on the canopy and I will be ready to put all the sub-assemblies together and get her wrapped up. Regards, Ian

Ian,
I look in regularly on your builds, and whilst I may not comment much, I do admire the results of your endeavours.
If only I could get close to your standard, but I do learn more than a few things and hopefully that is reflected in my humble offerings.

Paul, Pete, Boots, Tim---thanks so much! Tim, it's just a learning process like anything else and picking up techniques from great modellers like you guys.
Best wishes,

A massive work on a massive plane!

Thanks, Marco! Yes, the Tomcat is a huge airplane. Just imagine landing that on a pitching carrier deck during a raging snowstorm in the North Atlantic. Difficult to imagine attempting that type of flying.
Best wishes,
Ian

I really like those planes with movable wings. THey are huge and can fly in many conditions. Your "carrier vision" was perfect!
