With the cave done, well the bench is sorted, it's time to get back to plastic bashing and for the GB I've selected tamiya's very nice 1/48th Elefant. With this I have the tamiya zimmerit sheet and two scale 75 figures. Starting tonight & I can't wait!
Enjoying myself immensely so far & today I've tackled the zimmerit on most of the hull. It's very straightforward just cut out with a ruler and fresh blade. I also used a swivel knife for the curved areas which worked well. The zim looks very convincing and nicely in scale.
The fun continues with the rest of the zimmerit now on and a few extra details added. The kits an absolute gem and the zimm set is the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned. Later on I'll be working on the tracks.
Here she is almost finished, tracks went on no problem and look great. I'm just adding some handles to the engine decks and filling the tow eyes so I can drill them out later. The figures have also had some attention and I must say they are stunning. Very little to clean up, I did remove the SS insignia though because as far as I can tell they never used the elefant. Painted in the SPG reed green uniforms they should work a treat.
