I got the base coat applied on the Toon-Panther and I have decided to go full Ambush-Scheme on this one, gents. I used the AK Late War Dark Yellow and finally figured out the best way to use the stuff. I sprayed it thinned with Lacquer Thinner and it laid down like a champ. Post shading will be next. Regards, Ian

This Toon-Build has served a dual-purpose in that it has been fun but it also has been a good learning experience to get a handle on AK Paint usage. I started the post shading process on the Dark Yellow and I used the original AK Dark Yellow color, lightened with Model Master Enamel White. The mixture was thinned with lacquer thinner and shot perfectly from the airbrush. I think I will use a Vallejo Rust color for the brown splotches and Vallejo SAC Bomber Green for that shade. Stay tuned----- Regards, Ian

Nice Dunkelgelb there Ian, and the turret has been well filled a sanded too . I would never have thought of mixing AK with Model Master paints

Thanks, Paul! Slowly figuring out what works and doesn't work with AK paints. Vallejo are far less tempermental, though.
Best wishes,
Ian

Glad to see you’re having more success with AK paints than I did. I did also try Vallejo with only a little bit more success. The trick I found was to think why use them when I get consistent results with Tamiya paints. The Vallejo are now reserved for brush painting only.

I started the tri-color "Ambush Scheme" on the Toon Panther. For the green, I went with Vallejo SAC Bomber Green and I decided to go with Vallejo Light Rust for the brown and make it a little gaudy. Next will be tons of little spots! Best wishes, Ian
