I am getting close to the end for the F-4G. I got the ordnance painted and all the striping done on the missiles and also added the pull handles to the seats. The handles came from the Revell kit so I had to cut them off and added them to the resin part. I got the scratch built canopy sidewalls installed and the fit on those was fine. I also got some of the gear bay doors on as well as the speed brakes. I also got the decals on the plane and used the Speed Hunter Graphics Wild Weasel sheet to depict a G-model from the 52nd TFW, a veteran Weasel wing. The decals went on fine and this aircraft actually carried minimum stenciling and only one bang-seat triangle so that cut down on the decal time. I have to work on the canopies next and then it will be flat coat time and roll-out from the assembly line.

Well, the F-4G Wild Weasel is done and I must say this one was a battle. As I as installing all the subassemblies, pretty much all the actuators, control arms etc. for all the add-ons were either too short or too long and it took some doing to get everything installed. As mentioned before, the tub is molded too deep so the seats sit too low so they had to be raised up with shims and the joysticks had to be raised up as well. The boarding ladder also did not fit and I had to modify that to get it mount to the fuselage. All the pylons, tanks and ordnance were then added to complete the build. The clear parts were last and of course the canopy actuators were also too short so I had a time getting the canopies mounted correctly. The model was given a clear coat of Vallejo Matt Varnish and that rounded it out. The plane depicted is "Lucille" from the 480th TFS of the 52nd TFW out of Spangdahlem AFB in the late '80s. It carries the typical "Spang" load-out of two AGM-88 HARMs, two AIM-7s for self defense, an ALQ-131 jammer pod (Deep), which was preferred for the Spang F-4s, and three drop tanks. The kit builds up into a respectable looking F-4G and has nice recessed panel lines but there are really alot of mods that have to be made to get it across the finish line. Thanks for watching!
